Dr. Zaher Krayem is a clinical psychologist with specialized expertise in trauma, anxiety, and substance use, using approaches grounded in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), third-wave CBT interventions, and psychodynamic therapy. He earned his Master’s degree in 2006 from New College of California in San Francisco, where he focused on family and adult therapy from a psychodynamic perspective.
After working in the California college system for four years, Dr. Krayem pursued his doctorate, focusing on the neuroscience of anxiety and trauma. His 2 year postdoctoral training at The Wright Institute, affiliated with UC Berkeley, further sharpened his focus on trauma and anxiety therapies, with an emphasis on CBT, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and interventions for substance use. During this time, he also trained and supervised doctoral students. In 2016, Dr. Krayem earned his board certification in California (License: PSY31038) and balanced private practice with his role at The Wright Institute.
Since 2018, he has been an integral part of the psychiatry and psychology faculty at St. George’s Hospital, where he is involved in research, training, supervision and both inpatient and outpatient therapy. His practice continues to center around evidence-based treatments for trauma, anxiety, and substance use.
