A young Mohammedan from Morocco studying in a French lyceum developed anxiety symptoms and entered into a suicide pact. It ended by his killing the friend and then failing in his attempts at suicide. He wrote voluminously of life, religion, and philosophy. Anxiety symptoms are rare among Mohammedans, but his seemed to grow out of the conflicts between the French culture to which he was exposed during the day and the Mohammedan culture to which he returned at night.
