Abstract When schizophrenic patients become aware of their inability to express themselves verbally, they may begin to draw and paint to make themselves understood. Disintegration of the ego boundaries are correlated with the spatial structure in the drawings. Reintegration of spatial structure is seen in paintings of recovering schizophrenics.
