In the practice of child psychiatry one may distinguish among diverse psychoanalytically inspired methods of diagnosis and therapy two tendencies: (1) that stemming from Adler the main principle of which is the establishment of a "circuit of confidence" in such a way as to bring about a socially acceptable compensation; (2) that stemming from Freud, the main principle of which consists in providing an expression for the repressed and regressed libido. Both Adlerian and Freudian approaches involve reeducation by modifying the environment by reorganizing the style of life of the parents and by establishment of a "bond" between therapist and child so that the child may be directly influenced.
