Comments on the article by S. L. Dubovsky (see PA, Vol 71:7247) regarding psychiatry in Saudi Arabia (SA). The present author argues that the phrase In'shallah means "please" or "thank you" and does not encourage passivity and that impotence in SA men is due to feelings of guilt and anxiety and not to performance pressure, as suggested by Dubovsky. The present author also contends that, contrary to Dubovsky, child and wife abuse are considered crimes in SA that are treated either within the extended family or within the court system.
