Compared first-rank symptoms (FRS) among 42 16-60 yr old schizophrenics in Karachi, Pakistan, with data taken from a study involving 52 Saudi Arabian and 173 UK schizophrenics conducted by E. Zarrouk (see record 1979-33852-001). Findings suggest that cultural factors are more important than religious affinity in determining symptomatology. The place of FRS in developing countries and the changing concept of schizophrenia is discussed. (21 ref)
