Identified the factor structure of the Jordanian version of the Adaptive Behavior Scale. Factor analysis was performed on data collected in 2 previous studies with children: the 3rd author's unpublished doctoral dissertation (1981) and J. Jarrar's unpublished masters thesis (1983). Principal factor analysis followed by orthogonal rotation varimax were utilized to identify the factor structure. Analysis of Part I of the scale yielded 4 factors identified as self-sufficiency, personal and social responsibility, physical development, and socialization. Analysis of Part II yielded 4 factors identified as aggressive and anti-social behavior, personal adjustment, withdrawal, and trustworthiness. Analysis of 20 domains in both parts of the scale revealed 5 factors of general adaptive behavior derived from personal adaptive skills and customs in Part I, and 4 factors of antisocial hostile behavior in Part II.
