Attitudes toward self and environment, and aims and expectations were content-analyzed from protocols of 800 students in rural and urban areas. It was found that "urban groups . . . are similar . . . . breakaway from the family starts earlier with boys than with girls and earlier with urbans than with rurals . . . . there is on the whole adherence to the family which tends to be both protective and domineering . . . respect for older members of the community and deep regard for parents and the family . . . . self evaluation reflects more or less traditional standards . . . than comes from the standards derived from peers."
