Human-figure drawings in relation to modernization in Sudan.

It is proposed that the relative frequencies of traditional appearance and modern appearance in children's drawings of a man, made by children who are familiar with both kinds of dress, reflect the extent to which the child favors one form of dress over the other. It is further proposed that in Sudan, where some groups are much more "modernized" than others, the degree of adoption of the modern style of life is reflected by the relative frequency of modern dress in the drawings of various groups. Drawings were obtained from Sudanese groups appropriate for the study. The findings are consonant with the interpretation proposed
