Abstract : The toxoplasmin skin test with antigen supplied by Professor JÍROVEC was done on 70 mentally defective children, aged from under 1 year to 15 years, in Baghdad-11-4% reacted (7 "weakly positive" and 1 "positive"). This is compared with 4.9% of reactions (7 " weakly positive " and 2 " positive " out of 204) in a previous survey made by the same authors on normal children of the same age and in the same area [this Bulletin, 1964, v. 61, 711]. [CooK and DERRICK are quoted {ibid., 1961, v. 58, 1291) as having found serological evidence of Toxoplasma infection in 7 of 116 mentally defective children under the age of 15 years. It might also have been stated that they found a higher percentage in normal children.] C. P. Beattie.
