IDRAAC organized a symposium: “Suicide in Lebanon: Where Are We?” in association with the Department of Psychiatry and Clinical Psychology at the St Georges Hospital University Medical Center and the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Balamand on Saturday February 17, 2018 at the Batlouni auditorium- Balamand University facing St Georges Hospital University Medical Center Achrafieh from 8:30 AM-1:30 PM.

Completed suicide is a major event: in addition to being a tragic loss, it has profound consequences not only to the close circle of those who commit suicide, but on society as a whole.The knowledge of the scope of the problem is essential and this symposium gathered specialists on this issue from various sectors. 

The aim of this symposium was to draw on the expertise of specialists in the field from the mental health, governmental, religious, academic and civil society perspectives as a stepping stone for future solutions.

The IDRAAC team also presented data based on our studies and a roundtable discussion took place after the end of the symposium.
