Community-Based Health and Protection Intervention for Vulnerable Communities in Beirut, Mount Lebanon, and the South (2024 - 2025)

About the Project:
This community-based intervention focuses on addressing the health and protection needs of the most at-risk Syrian refugees and vulnerable host community members in Lebanon, particularly older adults and individuals with disabilities. Through a multifaceted approach, the project combines mental health support, protection services, and capacity-building efforts to improve the quality of life for marginalized populations.
Project Objectives:
IDRAAC, leveraging its team of specialists, implemented a comprehensive range of activities, including:
1. Mental health and social assessments through outreach and clinical teams. 2. Mental health consultations delivered in clinics. 3. Home visits conducted by psychologists, social workers, and outreach workers. 4. Operation of a 24/7 Mental Health Hotline. 5. Organization of awareness and intergenerational support group sessions. 6. Case management and service referrals for vulnerable individuals. 7. Capacity building for caregivers and humanitarian actors. 8. Distribution of cash assistance, assistive devices, and absorbent pads. |
Where It Is Being Implemented:
The project targeted vulnerable Syrian refugees and host communities in Beirut, Mount Lebanon, and South regions, addressing critical needs in marginalized areas.
Donor Information:
This project is implemented in collaboration with HelpAge International, HelpAge Germany and funded by the German Federal Foreign Office.
Key Components:
- 🟩 Clinical and outreach-based mental health services.
- 🟦 Awareness campaigns addressing mental health and cholera.
- 🟨 Capacity-building sessions for caregivers and humanitarian actors.
Beneficiaries That Will Be Reached:
- 600 beneficiaries will receive 5 free mental health consultations.
- 1,200 individuals will be supported through the hotline.
- 1,400 Older People and People with Disabilities will benefit from home visits.
- 950 participants will benefit from mental health group awareness and psychosocial support.
- 400 beneficiaries will receive cash for protection.
- 200 beneficiaries will receive assistive devices and absorbent pads.
- 100 individuals will receive caregivers’ burden training and humanitarian training on topics related to older people.
